Today I closed one of the loops that has been open for a very long time. I said I would send my cousin some photographs of his dad about four months ago. Actually, it was about seven months ago, maybe eight! Anyway, today I posted them and it’s now off my list, the loop is closed.
Closing loops is like ticking off the list, that thing you have been meaning to do.
It is normal for something to forget. We after all are human and are prone to distraction, however, when its chronic and pervasive we need to take action.
For those of us on the extreme end of neurodiversity its important o understand that the the processing in the brain is very, very different. We forget things more often, we see that something needs doing, forget, and then it looks like we’re ignoring it, or to us it simply becomes wallpaper. We don’t remember until we are sat, stood or placed in some inopportune moment to carry out the thing we are meaning to do. Usually, for me, it’s when I’m on the loo, in the bath, or driving the car. Clearly, all inopportune moments to carry out the task that is required to be completed.
So what do we do about this?
We do our best to remember. We add it to a list, we use technology, and/or we make it our one thing. That primary one thing we need to do today, or this week.
I continue to learn because I continue to process this information moment by moment. I won’t stop. I’ve always known that I will be a learner until I die, I never knew that it was because I had a working memory issue.
Where does the strawberry tart fit in?
Well, I bought one after I had posted the photos to be the pudding to my sarnie.
After all, it was lunch time.
Happy days
